‘A versatile pianist with a passion for the unusual, new and unexplored ..... the six short movements (in Ravel’s Tombeau de Couperin) demonstrated Alex’s pianistic technique, involving a range of moods from ceremonial fanfare and lively activity to gentle reflection and regret ..... a sizeable audience were fascinated by this striking and unusual concert programme’

Alex Wilson’s piano was the perfect accompaniment throughout the evening, demonstrating his skill and facility as a chamber musician of sensitivity and power.
Alex Wilson’s exuberant playing of Percy Grainger’s ‘Country Gardens’ gave the concert momentum to a programme, promising fun and amusement, leaving the audience with smiles of pleasure that must have encouraged all the performers. It showed that Alex is not simply a background player but has power and technique, although from then on his playing was never intrusive .... recent reviews from Trio Exe concerts in 2018. |

"Alex plays with muscular precision and supreme delicacy, and is the perfect foil to Ruth's superlative flutey goodness. At their concert in Ashburton, a small but select audience of devotees were immediately impressed by the spectacular interplay between these two great musicians ..... treat the second half of the concert opened with a selection of Magnus Lindberg's "Piano Jubilees", which gave us all a chance to concentrate on Alex's outstanding pianistic skill and supreme sensitivity."

".....an outstanding young musician who has introduced worthwhile music that otherwise might not come our way......"
Spectator review following a Banks of Green Willow concert in Bristol, Oct 2014.
".....Alex Wilson gave a strong performance, exploring the instrument's capacity
for percussiveness and volume. Wilson's excellent performance helped communicate
highly fanciful and subjective messages through the shortest of musical
mediums....."
